Today I got a notification asking if I wanted to look back on pictures from my gallery from a year ago today. I said sure, why not? When I came across the picture of me on the left, I immediately remembered why I had taken it. I had decided to start working out, and wanted to document the beginning of my progress. That plan didn’t last long, and I soon fell off after maybe a month, as I had many times before. Fast forward to now, a year later. I’m in kind of a slump for working out. I’ve moved out of my parents’ house and belong to the YMCA, but haven’t been in a few weeks. But I’ve still made pretty substantial progress this year. I was anywhere between 205-210 lbs in the picture on the left, and now I’m around 172 lbs. I’ve adjusted my eating habits, cut out a lot of the mindless snacking I used to do, and am still working on creating a workout habit. Seeing this picture reminded me that even though I’m in a slump now, it’s all just part of the journey. I still have work to do, but I’ve come a long way from where I was a year ago. As long as you don’t give up and keep working every day to be better than you were the day before, even if you fail, you haven’t lost.
